MovesLikeJagger '12 chestnut snowcap
with blaze and 2 stockings (Ultimate Bounce X Miss Lacey Snow) Here is
the colt everyone looks for! Jagger is a very well balanced homozygous colt -
great legs, gorgeous neck and hip, super head! Congress quality colt! He will be
very flashy on the rail, and for those looking to be producing colored foals in
a few years, he is an outstanding stallion prospect. Mature 55-56". Sired
by multiple World and International Champion Ultimate Bounce and out of a great
producing daughter of St. Nik's Snowstorm.

Weanling Colt, 2 Grand
Champion Stallions! This was
his first show.
Jagger
has been sold and is in his new home in Indiana, where we had a recent update:
"I just wanted to let you
know that Jagger is amazing. I am so glad that we got him from you.
He is developing so well, perfect conformation, with legs that are amazing and a
head that is not only full of good looks but incredible brains. We decided
to really go slow with him after we got to know him a little bit and we laid low
on the POA circuit last year and just spent tons of time hauling and working
with him and getting him completely carefree about the world. He took to
that so well. We are so excited to hit the road with him this year and
have made huge changes in our normal showing to make sure he gets hauled
everywhere we can go. He's going to be fantastic. (Did his first
saddling work the other day, and he handled it like it was not big deal at
all....like he handles everything) This was my daughter's first go at putting
all of the work herself on a horse. It is so awesome that his personality
is such that I can pretty much stand back and coach her from the sides and it is
going great. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate
him... So....we are looking for another. If by chance, you
have knowledge of another Ultimate Bounce offspring that is at least started,
we'd be interested in knowing about them... Well, thanks for your time.
I have had lots of horses over time and some really great ones, but I tell you,
there is something really special about this Jagger. Love him.
thanks so much, Candy Colbert, Indiana"
Now, who wouldn't want to get an
email like this about a pony they bred? We hope everyone feels this way about
their Skyrock ponies!
Here is little Jagger and
Cassadi. At two, although super tiny, he is a showmanship machine and beating
the big kids :-). He can do complete shankless showmanship patterns with ease
too...so cool. She took her first big ride on him today and he was a champ. LOVE
him!

-
Flash!
Jagger and Cassadi win again at the 2018 Congress, bringing home a Reserve
Championship in Ranch Riding 18&U, a 3rd in Western Riding, plus other
placings! Congrats!

Sable Rain '11 black roan with frost
filly, (Ultimate Bounce X Miss Lacey Snow)
Sable is a very nice refined filly
who also has substance. A very nice mover, she will be an awesome rail pony who
will be able to Halter as well. After winniing Res. Grand Champion Mare at the
2012 SW Regional, Sable was purchased by the Holden Family of OK, where they
have long term plans for her. Good luck Holden Family, and good luck to Sable,
who was very hard to let go.
Sable winning her yearling and under fillies class,
after winning her longe-line class and just before winning Res. Grand Champion
Mare. It was a Great SW Regional!
-
FLASH!
We got a call from a very excited Mark Holden the weekend following the SW
Regional: the family had taken Sable to a show, not really planning
to show her, and at the last minute stuck her in Yearling fillies without
even a bath. Guess what? Class Winner, Junior Champion and Reserve Grand
Champion Mare, out of about 15 mares shown at Halter that day. Can you say
Happy Campers? (Gotta LOVE those blue roans! Pretty even when dirty!)
-
FLASH!
Sable was shown at the Riechert, where she won over $1000 in prize money,
and at the Congress and National Futurities where she also did well. Thanks
to Nikki Ferwerda who conditioned and showed her! Sable is the epitome of
the calm, willing POA, acting like a dead broke 12 year old when she is only
2!

Hits The Spot '10 bay with blanket and spots colt (Ultimate
Bounce X Suncrest Lullaby)
Rocky as a yearling
Rocky
is a bright
bay with a perfect blanket and spots, this is the colored show pony you dream
of! By Ultimate Bounce ROM(H), World and International Champion, and
out of International Champion Suncrest Lullabye, this colt is full brother to
Skyrock Sunrise and Steppn Out With A Bounce. He really reminds me of Suncrest
Tomcat, multiple World and Int'l Champion gelding, to whom he is related. Mature
55-56".
9/4-5/10=
At the Cal-State Futurity, Rocky was Champion Weanling Colt. He looked awesome,
and was shown to his win by Stacy Lair of Competitor's Edge. This is a very
pretty colt - an excellent show prospect. Buy him now, show him in Halter and
LongeLine as a yearling, then expect to clean up in JPFC or Junior classes as he
goes under saddle. First

Big Tyme Bounce '11 chestnut leopard colt (Ultimate Bounce X Big
Tyme Model)
Super loud color on a very cute
colt! "Frankie" didn't even get time to play with us as his new
family saw him at only a couple of months of age and bought him right away. The
Gassmanns visited him here at Skyrock until he was old enough to wean. They have
added him to their growing family and are having fun showing him under his new
name "Ruger".
Ruger was shown in2012 and
2013 and has been lightly started under saddle for 2014. Here are some pictures
of him from the 2013 show season:

(Ultimate Bounce X Queen of Aces)

This royally bred filly is just
what every breeder looks for: charisma, conformation and color. "Brook"
has it all. Foaled at Gilbert Hawkin's ranch in northern CA, she ended up back
here in SoCal as the Colyn family purchased her. She has been successfully shown in hand
for the last couple of years, and went into a couple of classes this year under
saddle.

We sure like this filly who, at

PERFECT color! We expect Brook will have lots of updates as her career
progresses!

Brenin is one of the nicest
colts Skyrock has produced, and we're very pleased to announce he has gone to a
new POA family here in our own town of Norco. The Colyns aren't new to horses,
as they were showing AQHA for a while, but now have a young daughter, an older
POA mare, and now a fancy colt to get them going in the world of POA.
Congrats, and we'll be posting updates, I'm sure!

Stoney spent three years here
at Skyrock, and earned his Supreme Championship with K. A new family
has purchased him, and he now has FIVE eager kids to give rides to! He now
lives in Scottsdale, with his own PASTURE (!), and will hopefully be taking
lessons with his new kids with Diana Peaton. Hope to see them at the shows!!
Stoney tests out his new digs with the
Browns.
-
FLASH!
Stoney and the Browns are having a great time! On a
recent phone call, Dee (mom) let us know that they are certainly enjoying
him, and will continue with lessons under Diana, and have set a goal to be
showing in the fall! Yay!
-
FLASH!
We saw Stoney and his rider at the 2012 SW Regional Show. It looked
like they were having fun!
Hey Stoney!!
-
FLASH!
Believe it or not, we have purchased Stoney back, and are
planning to use him on the trails. Welcome home, Stoney!
Ultimate Bounce ROM(H) X Skyrock Copper Penny
Jack was born here at Skyrock, and
is Bouncer's ONLY (to date) solid foal. However, he is a lovely seal bay, with
elegant movement and lots of jump! He was sold to a young lady here in Norco who
started him, then he moved to PepperGlen Farms. He is currently owned by
Hunter's Pointe in Garden Grove. They report he is "showing and
winning". They feel he is a super prospect, and are promoting him as a
jumper. Here are some pictures of him. Jack is offered for sale to a private
home where he can excel.
Dixie has been leased to the
Russell /Woodward family of Winchester. They are currently in training
with Shannon Clark of Clark Training Stables at beautiful Shadow Creek Ranch in
Hemet. Skyrock wishes both Grace and Samantha Good Luck with Dixie!
-
FLASH!
Dixie has already carried her rider in a show! Dixie and
Samantha had a blast at an ETI show where they were getting their feet (and hooves)
wet while conditioning for the '09 season.
-
FLASH!
While delivering Cowboy (Skyrock California Boy is mom Gizelle's new
POA project), we were able to visit with Dixie who was taking a
bareback Eq lesson with Grace as we arrived at the ranch. Dixie looks
super bright eyed and very happy to have a little girl of her own again. K
asked for and got to hop aboard for a nostalgic ride around. That Dixie
- everyone loves her!
-
FLASH!
At Cal-State's first show of the '09 season, Dixie and Samantha
showed in LeadLine and LL Games - They looked great and had such a fun time!
Look at that grin!

-
FLASH!
Sammy & Dixie once again had a super
day showing at Cal-State's 5/2 show at Sycamore Canyon. You GO, girls!
-
FLASH! Big sis Grace
recently had an outing on Dixie at the ETI Corral 50 show. They rocked!
Congrats!
-
FLASH!
Dixie has been leased again for the 2010 season. We're so happy they
love Dixie (and I'm sure Dixie is happy to get to stay in Pony
Heaven with the Sunset Girls!
-
FLASH!
Dixie is staying with her family, who leased her again for 2011. We
saw her and her rider at the first show of the season, and Dixie was
her usual dreamboat self, sweet as pie and even won a class or two!

-
FLASH!
Dixie and her rider took the Year End
All-Around Champions Buckle for 8 & Under! You GO, girls!!
-
FLASH!
Dixie goes Hollywood! Smashbox Studios met up
with Dixie and the Sunset Ranch girls to film a comedy segment for
charity with actor Eric Stonestreet from the TV show Modern Family. Dixie
was a pro - nothing bothered her on the busy, loud, crowded set, and her
biggest problem was wanting to eat the prop fencing! The girls had make-up
applied by real Hollywood make-up artists and had a great time on this big
adventure.

-
FLASH!
Dixie is retired from the work arena
and is resting at home in her private pen with a tree for shade. Though she
is still young for a POA to retire (only 23) a kick to the knee that she
received several years ago has brought on arthritis that just can't take
being ridden any more. Dixie will be with us forever, as all good
ponies deserve, and visitors are welcome!
-
Dixie has passed on to
greener pastures. We will miss her.
Cowboy has begun his new
life with the Russell/Woodward family of Winchester, who are also currently
leasing Driftwood Dixie from Skyrock. Cowboy will be
"Mom's" project, and be conditioned and shown as a yearling in Halter,
LongeLine and In-Hand-Trail. Good Luck Gizelle and Cowboy!
-
FLASH!
Skyrock California Boy shows at the Cal-State Futurity, winning 2yo
Halter Geldings, In-Hand-Trail and Longe-Line, plus the Over-All
Two-Year-Old Championship. You Go Cowboy!! He has matured nicely and has
retained his blue roan coloring. His family is thinking of breaking him to
cart!

FLASH!
Gorgeous 2011 update photo from Sunset Ranch. Looks like Cowboy
is keeping his stunning blue roan color! He is staying on the smaller
side, though, so he might be looking for a home with petite riders,
or, his owners think he would look terrific in harness. Great idea!

Dakota has been leased by
the Espinoza family of Cherry Valley. They have a very clean facility near
Riley's Farm in the foothills. Dakota was very excited with his new big
paddock (filled with very comfy sand!) and especially the strange, long-eared
creature who was braying at him from across the aisle. Tori is really happy with
her new riding buddy - and we sure hope to see them at the POA shows!
-
FLASH!
Dakota and Tori spent 2009 trail riding and showing locally. They had
a great year, and Dakota helped build Tori's confidence to the point
that she was able to move to one of the family's own big horses. They love Dakota,
and sent us a great "Thank You" note.
-
FLASH!
Dakota is now available for a 2010 lease.
-
FLASH!
Dakota has been leased for the 2010 show season. The Russell family
also has Dixie, and we are very happy that Dakota is going to

-
FLASH! Dakota
has been leased to the Machado family for the 2013 Show Season. He and his
rider have really hit it off and have already shown at a couple shows last
fall. Good Luck!
how's this for a kid
who was afraid to canter? Go Dakota!!
Flash! Dakota
and Ally Machado had a fabulous year! Mr Dakota did what he does so
well, and took a rider who was timid because of falls from a couple of
naughty ponies (not POAs!!) and, over the course of the year, turned
her into a confident, strong rider. In fact, he did his job so well that
Ally is now showing EVENTING on a warmblood, and Dakota has put
himself out of a job (again). Ally and Dakota had a great Year-End
Awards haul:
High Point 9-12
Silver Buckle
1st Western
1st Gymkhana
2nd English Flat
and several other
placings. Congratulations, Ally and Dakota, and good luck Ally in
your new discipline!
-
Flash!
Dakota has been leased by the Barone family of Norco for their daughter,
Kadence. Kadence needs some confidence to reach the next level, and Dakota
(the Wonder Pony) is right there to give it to her. She plans to show
walk/jog this year and may keep Dakota through the following year for
3-gait. We have already seen several postings on Facebook of the fun trail rides the pair has been on - they look like they are having a
blast! Good Luck Dakota & Kadence!

Shadow has moved to Arizona
to be with his new owners, the Fisher Family. He'll be bunking with Coffee
Bar Gold, a bay roan gelding that's been successfully showing in the South
West for a few years. Shadow will be daughter Katie's Jr. Pony project as
she goes through 13-18. Shadow is going to a great home, and we're super
happy for him.
-
FLASH!
Well, Shadow stepped off the trailer in AZ and right into the show
ring, winning another two Reserve Grand Champion Stallions and another Color
class. You GO Shadow (now Levi) and Katie!
-
FLASH!
We saw Levi and Katie at the recent South West Regional at West World
in Scottsdale, just as he was walking out of a class of 17 with the blue
ribbon! He's tough to beat at Color! Congrats, Katie & Levi!
-
FLASH!
We saw Levi and Katie at the 2010 Rocky Mtn. Regional and Western
Classic. With only a few rides under saddle, Levi and Katie placed in
several classes and showed great promise with his outstanding movement. As
of August, Levi is #1 in the Nation Two-Year-Old Gelding. Congrats!
-
FLASH!
Levi now has his ROM(H) and is well on his way to his
Supreme. His rider is moving to another breed, and Levi is for sale.
-
Flash!
Levi has been sold to an Open Show family - Good Luck
with Levi!
-
FLASH!
Rascal
is back with the Sanga's after a couple years in a field, and WOW - after just a
few weeks of clean up and conditioning - first show: Grand Champion Gelding,
plus 1st place Color! Congratulations!
-
FLASH!
Rascal showed in the 2/3 year old Futurity classes at the Cal-State
Show. He was entered in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and Trail. I
watched this gelding from the rail and his performance was AWESOME -
movement and responsiveness like a much older more experienced show pony!
This gelding is TOPS! Exactly the type of offspring we were looking for when
we started standing Bouncer. Congrats Rascal and Stacy Lair on
your Futurity wins, plus the Over-All 2/3 year old High Point Award! And
congrats to Gina Sanga, for having the gumption to breed Lullabye to Bouncer
in the first place!
-
FLASH!
We just got an update on Rascal from his new family in the Midwest.
He and his rider had an awesome 2010 year - especially since it's their
first year in the older age group! Here are his results:

and thank you to his family for taking this awesome gelding and making
him into the Champion he had the potential to become.
Congratulations to the Deaville
Family of Lake Elizabeth CA on the purchase of Pepper. She
is a Christmas present for their family and will break out under the
guidance of Tania Deaville, and later be a trail /all-around pony for their
boys. Watch for updates!
-
FLASH!
Just had a spring '09 update from the Deavilles: Pepper (now 3) is
doing well, the kids crawl all over her, and they are looking to buy her a
saddle of her very own. They promise pictures soon, and report that she may
have a few spots under her shedding winter coat.

Congratulations
to Elaine Angle of New Jersey, who purchased Sienna via photos, email and
phone calls. Her granddaughters are very excitedly waiting for Sienna to
arrive. She will be leaving California for the first time and traveling farther
than any Skyrock-born POA to date: clear across the country to her new home. We
eagerly await news on how our pretty girl does with her new family.
-
FLASH!
Sienna made it all the way to New Jersey in great shape. Elaine says she's
just beautiful, and granddaughter Mandy is very happy.

Skyrock Ruby Six @ two years
-
FLASH!
Ruby was shown at the 2008 North West Regional in Caldwell ID over
Labor Day weekend. With only 45 rides on her, this smaller sized Medium mare
showed in 2/3 year-old Western Pleasure and won the class. The team then went on to
ride in games, and wow - what a willing girl Ruby is! Not knowing
patterns, she responded so well to her rider's signals that she actually
turned in some decent times and placed in the classes! Not only is Ruby
super willing and responsive, she has just great over-all good looks, and we
were very impressed with how she has turned out. Congrats to Rhonda Hoadley
and to Ruby's rider, Breanna Pogue.
-
ps: Ruby has been bred
to BR Rocking Rebel for a 2009 foal, and as "Frankie"
is a cremello son of Santee Saladin, they are expecting some unusual
color.
Here are Ruby and Breanna at the Western

Bonnie served as Skyrock's
top show pony for 2004 and a portion of 2005. She excelled in Costume and
Games, and gave her rider some good shows, earning nearly 1500 Timed points,
and in 2004, Bonnie won the William Heald Perpetual Trophy, and

Indigo is a yearling
filly out of famed producing mare, Suncrests Moonbeam.
We've long admired Moonbeam, a daughter of the legendary mare Suncrests Forever
Amber (producer of Supreme Champions Suncrests Kandi-Bar, Suncrests Doughboy,
Suncrests Big Mac etc etc). Moonbeam herself has produced many champions,
including Suncrests Amber Moon -World and International Champion and Record
breaking mare at the Sale, and Suncrests Moonshine, World and International
Champion and High Point JPFC saddle winner. Indigo's sire is Multiple World
Champion and World and International Champion Sire, Suncrests Tattoo, sire of
many champions, including Suncrests Magic Moment, World & International
Champion and JPFC High Point 2yo. With breeding like this, Indy is
sure to be a champion. Indigo is a black with a cute "tornado" shaped blaze. She
has white patches over her hips and lots of frost. She is roaning as well, so there will be even more flash in the future. Indy
will mature in the Large Mares category, and will be competitive at Halter and
Longe Line, and is a definite JPFC and Jr Pony prospect.
-
FLASH!
Indy has been sold to the Peaton Family of AZ. She'll be shown JPFC. Good
Luck Peatons and Indy!
-
FLASH!
Indy
won South West Regional Champion 2 year old Filly in Scottsdale in April.
Diane reports she is doing well under saddle, with an exceptional lope,
and we should see her at the Cal-State Futurities in August (2005).
-
FLASH!
Indy and
her owners have had a slight change in plans. Diana has moved aside for
daughter Lindsay, as Lindsay's gorgeous mare JOF Skippa Scotch (Penny) is
recovering from surgery. The pair went to their first show in September,
and Indy took Res. Grand Champion Mare, and they then went on to
high placings, 2nds & 3rds, in every class entered, all classes full.
Lindsay plans for Indy to be her Junior Pony, as Penny will
move into Senior next season. Good Luck Indy and Lindsay!!

-
FLASH! Indy
and Lindsay showed at the West Coast Classic and did really well - Reserve
Champion Overall in the George Bishop Futurity! Congratulations!
-
FLASH!
Indy and
the Peatons become our first "Skyrock" Supreme Champions!
Congratulations, Skyrock Indigo Moon and the Peaton Family!
- Summer Gold, '92 POA mare, chestnut with
roaning. Summer is by Santee Gold Hancock, Supreme Champion
and World and
International Champion and a son of Tough Plaudit, Premier Sire, and
out of Sage Hen's Flashy, a mare owned by the Johnson family of
Hollister CA, who
produced an astounding 17 POAs for the Johnson's, many of whom became
Champions and one, JK's Prince, who became a Supreme Champion. Summer
produced Skyrock Lakota Gold for us, and was
one of Skyrock's show ponies for the 2000 season. She is very competitive
in Medium Mares Halter with her gorgeous head and muscled build. Summer ended the
year with a National Medallion and the William Heald Perpetual Trophy.
- FLASH! Summer has been
purchased by Courmier Quarter Ponies and POAs of Riverside, CA. They are
very excited to be adding Summer to their broodmare band, and are
looking forward to her first Courmier foal in 2004 by ApHC Saint Bright.
- FLASH! Summer has foaled
a lovely chestnut filly - blaze and four stockings with hip speckles. Talk
about flash!

- Skyrock Sugar Buzz,
a '00 solid bright bay mare out of Driftwood's Velvet Sheba (see below) by
AQHA Clem's Buzzie. As she was born with no characteristics, and therefore
would never color up, Sugar was sold to a family in Norco to be a
companion for their aging Eventer. Called Minnie Me at their barn
because she so resembles the old Eventer, she was started in English and
began her over fences show career this year (2004). Her family is very happy
to report that Minnie - show name Fortune Cookie - was shown at
five 'A' shows this year and acquired two Reserve Championships and at her
final show in Santa Barbara, won the Championship. We are so happy that this
quality pony found a home to love her and show her to her potential! It just
goes to show you that quality is quality, and POAs are more than spots.

same pose. What a beautiful girl!
- FLASH! Sugar/Minnie

has been bred to a
top flight Welsh stallion from the east coast. She is the FIRST non-Welsh or
non-TB that has been approved. Her owners are very excited about this '06
foal, and so are we!
- FLASH!
Minnie has foaled a carbon copy of herself: a lovely bay filly, with
a snip and two hind socks. Her owners are delighted with how easily Minnie
has recovered and how cute and energetic this filly is. Name and photos
soon!
Introducing "Darla"
POA '99 chestnut w/frost Filly to Julianna Coombs of OK
Codee is by Lakota Tough Steel, North West Regional
Yearling Halter Futurity Winner, and 2000 NW Region Circuit High Point
Winner, and sire of Futurity winners. Lakota Tough Steel is double
bred East Acres Double Tough, Premier Sire, ROM(H), ROM(NT), and the
pony who changed the standard for POAs. His dam is Cookie's Sweetie,
a fine performance and producing POA by Doc's Tough Cookie.
Codee is out of Summer Gold, a gorgeous mare
who ended the 2000 show season as a National Medallion
winner, and the recipient of the William Heald Perpetual Trophy. Summer
is by Santee Gold Hancock, Supreme Champion, Multiple World and International Champion,
who is by Tough Plaudit, Premier Sire, International Superior
Champion, and sire of dozens of World and International Champions. Summer's
dam is Sage Hen's Flashy, an outstanding performance and
producing mare, dam of multiple champions and a Supreme Champion.
Skyrock would like to congratulate Julie Coombs on her purchase of Codee.
Julie's plan is to JPFC Codee for the 2003/4 seasons and then re-sell to
a show family.
- Flash! Codee,
under the guidance
of Julie Coombs, placed 3rd at the 2004 International Reining Futurity. We
are so proud and a big Congratulations to Julie who has brought Codee
so far!
- Flash! Codee
has been purchased
by Diane Roby who is thrilled with her, and is very happy with her level of
training and the confidence Codee gives her when riding. Diane plans
to show Codee Open in Jumping, and do Competitive Trail Riding
with her. Congratulations, Diane, on a terrific mare!
- Flash! Codee
and Diane have competed in their
first Endurance Ride - a 25 miler. Diane and Codee have been training
for the distance and are well prepared for their goal of earning a POA
Endurance Medallion for 2005. They have also been taking Dressage lessons.
Can you say versatile? Good Luck, you two!
- FLASH! Codee
was featured in an
article on POAs and Dressage in the July 2005 issue of the POA magazine. Her
owner wrote the article, promoting dressage as an outlet for POAs owned by
adults who wish to show, and as additional training beneficial for ponies
who are currently showing POA. WooHoo!
- FLASH!
Codee and Diane had an outstanding 1st Dressage show, winning
FIRST in Intro A, FIRST in Intro B, FIRST in Dressage Eq. (W/T), and
High Point Amateur. Diane says she received many comments on Codee -
how pretty she was and how well she moved, and lots of raised eyebrows when
they learned she'd only begun training in April. Look at this photo - What a
beauty!

- FLASH! Codee
and Diane won the Year-end high point for Dressage Pony in their club.
Congratulations!!
- Skyrock MsTeeque, a '98 dark grulla with
roaning and spots filly by multiple World and International Champion, Santee
Saladin and out of Driftwood's Velvet Sheba. MsTee is
now owned by the Lynch family of Arizona. As MsTee is our first 'Skyrock' bred
pony, we are naturally interested in her progress. The Lynch's report they
absolutely adore MsTee, and they can't get
over her calm and easy demeanor whether at home or at shows. Samantha is
currently riding MsTee in Junior Pony classes, and Sydney is riding
her in 9-12 Games. Plans are to take her to the World this summer. Good Luck
MsTee and the Lynch Family.
- Flash! MsTee was shown at the
2003 World Show in Spanish Fork where she placed in several classes,
including Halter! Congratulations!
- Flash! MsTee
once again showed at the POA World
Show, 2004, and was very successful, placing in many classes.
- Flash!
MsTee has been offered for sale by the Lynch family.
Their daughter's legs are getting too long for her! I watched MsTee
at the Western Classic in Utah over the 24/25 of June, and she has become a
very consistent, good minded pony

- Driftwood's Velvet Sheba, an '85 loud bay
roan with blanket and spots mare, was our first POA. She was the perfect
LeadLine mare and did very well for us for four years in that capacity. By EZ2C
Leo, International Champion producer, and out of Driftwood Gay Lea,
ApHC, who produced six International Champions, Velvet was
bred by one of the founders of POA, Ray Pietz. While at Skyrock, Velvet
produced Skyrock MsTeeque and Skyrock Sugar Buzz. A bold mare, who excelled in English and jumping, Velvet
is now owned by a family in Iowa. She was bred to Santee Saladin for
a June '01 foal
.

- Flash! Velvet foaled a
full sister to Skyrock MsTeeque. A stunning buckskin with loads of dun factor and white spots
on the hips, Velvet's owners report this filly is gentle as a
lamb! Her name: Skyrock's Ginger Lady.
- Ginger has been purchased by Joan Petersen of IA for her
granddaughter, Emily. Good Luck with Ginger!
- Flash! Skyrock Sugar Buzz, a
four year old ID POA (Driftwood's Velvet Sheba X Clem's Buzzie AQHA),
has entered the field of show jumping and eventing! Her owners are delighted
with her, and call her "Mini Me" because she closely
resembles (minus about 3 hands!) their older Grand Prix jumper. Good luck
with the jumping career! (see her own Update section here!)
- Flash!
Skyrock's Ginger Lady and her recently graduated trainer/rider, Josie,
(cousin of Emily) plan
to enter the 19 & Over division this year, and possibly compete at the
Futurities in Iowa. Good Luck Josie and Ginger!
- Flash! During
her limited show season this year, Skyrock's Ginger Lady went
Grand Champion Halter Pony, and with her rider Emily, took 2nd in a
very large w/t class, and last year they won the showmanship class
together. Ginger has been bred to Sleepy Hollow Max for a 2006
foal, and everyone is very excited about that. Max has a reputation
of throwing good minded, buckskin/palomino babies, so it will be interesting
to see what this cross brings.
- Flash!
Ginger foaled a gorgeous grulla with blanket and spots filly.
Congratulations!
- Flash!
Skyrock's Ginger Lady and her filly Kiss Me Im Irish placed
top ten in both Weanling Fillies and Mare & Foal at the 2006
International. Excellent first time out! Congratulations Josie!

- FLASH!
We have had a 2011 update from Velvet's rider, Katie, who is sharing Velvet
with her best friend Brie who lives in Mason City, IA. Velvet,
who is 26 this year, is active as ever, showing in Western Pleasure last
year (and barrels (see photo)) and has recently switched to English. All I
can say is she looks great, and will likely be competing into her 30s at the
rate she's going. Velvet's dam, Driftwood Gay Lea, was
producing foals into her late twenties, and maybe early thirties, so Velvet
has the longevity gene. Congrats to Katie and Brie, who were
thrilled to hear about Velvet's saga and her royal lineage.
yep - 26 years old!
An
absolutely stunning colt, Skipper is everything a POA breeder could ask
for, and then some. A pretty headed, straight legged, long necked colt, he
has color to burn! He's Liver Chestnut with a pretty
blaze and a high rear stocking. But the best is behind him, as he sports a
blanket to mid-back loaded with quarter-sized spots. He is flashy flashy
flashy in the show ring!
With
his Skipper W Quarter Horse blood, he's already showing a tremendous
muscle tone, and he's tough to beat at halter, but he also has a floaty, soft lope that is just lovely and will make him shine at the rail
as well.
This
is a tremendous colt with a quiet disposition, who has the ability to be a
top sire or a fabulous show gelding. According to his cannon bone
measurement, he should mature a stout 55
1/2", and be a definite world class mount.
*****************
-
FLASH!
Skipper won the
Cal-State Yearling Halter Futurity at the Fairplex at Pomona (and went
Grand Champion under both judges at the Ponyrama held concurrently)!
-
FLASH!
Skipper took a Reserve
Champion in Yearling Colts, and a 5th (out of 15) in Lunge-Line and won the
Small Stallion Stakes at the 2003 POA International in Tennessee!
FLASH!
Skipper stood World Champion Yearling Stallion at the 2003 POA World
Show in Spanish Fork, beating a field of very nice colts. Skipper was
11 months old at this show. At the last minute, we threw him into
Yearling Lunge Line. Guess what? Reserve World Champion!
Skipper
has been sold!
Congratulations
to Lauren Aguilera of Just
Heavenly POAs in
Northern California on her purchase of this fine
colt!
